We have confirmation of the Apple Watch launch time frame, from none other than the senior vice president of retail and online stores at Cupertino.
In a video message to retail employees, Angela Ahrendts confirmed that Apple plans to release the watch in spring, next year, while asking them to take a breath, but also buckle up for the launch.
A small selection from the partial transcript of the message sent out:
“So, again, we do – you guys were hired because you’re the best people in the world. And you know how to service customers, but we are sprinting a marathon right now, and it’s not going to stop. Right? We’re going into the holidays, we’ll go into Chinese New Year, and then we’ve got a new watch launch coming in the spring. So I just, I really wanted to say, stop for a moment, take a breath.”
Apple had, so far, only confirmed an early 2015 launch, but Mrs. Ahrendts’ claim actually rules out the possibility of seeing the Apple Watch anytime sooner than say, March 2015.
Still, the former Burberry CEO is now tasked with the responsibility of the operations and expansion of Apple retail and online stores, along with forging partnerships with other companies to promote Apple products — Apple got its smartwatch featured on the cover of Vogue China, for instance.
The Apple Watch will start at $349, once it is available in the United States.
